Extreme Home Make-Over Service Opportunity

Volunteers Needed for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is coming to Daybreak in South Jordan. With the help of Holmes Homes, Rio Tinto, and thousands of volunteers, one deserving family is about to witness the power of community.

When is it?

The family will be announced on Thursday, June 23 and the finished home will be revealed on Wednesday, June 29.

While most Extreme Makeover: Home Edition projects offer to transform an existing house, Holmes Homes will be building a brand new home in Daybreak from the ground up in just one week! The episode will air on ABC sometime in the fall, and be part of the show’s 9th season, which will be moving to a new Friday evening timeslot.

How can I participate?

Developing Our Talents

Developing Our Talents

Gospel Principles Chapter 34

We all have special gifts, talents, and abilities given to us by our Heavenly Father. We have a responsibility to develop the talents we have been given from our Heavenly Father. Often we are scared to try new things, accept new assignments or do things that are out of our comfort zone. Heber J. Grant overcame many of his weaknesses and turned them into talents. He had as a motto these words: “That which we persist in doing become easier for us to do; not that the nature of the thing is changed, but that our power to do is increased.” Let us remember the parable of the talents (Matthew 25) and seek out the gifts we have

been given and then learn to develop them over time and gain confidence in our abilities with Heavenly Father by our side.

Love Your Neighbor As Yourself

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF

In Matt: 22:38-39, we are taught to “love thy neighbor as thyself”. But what if we don’t love ourselves? We all have things about ourselves that we don’t like. Whether they be of a temporal or a spiritual nature, we see them as flaws that make us less than perfect. We know we arn’t perfect and that we are here to have the opportunity to learn and grow from experiences but we can’t seem to accept that this is part of the plan. And, that it is ok. That we are ok.

We need to be aware of those things about us that need to be improved upon and seek ways to make the necessary changes realizing it will not happen overnight . But, While we are in this process of recognition and change, it will help us if we keep in mind those positive things we have already accomplished that are of an eternal nature. Things such as: We chose the Lord’s plan, we came to earth and received a body, we gained testimonies, we were baptized and so on. Each of us will have our own list that is unique to us. Keeping our focus on the progress we have made in our life’s journey so far, will help us to feel better about ourselves and therefore have a greater capacity for love for others.
